Final Verdict on Maven Trading

Maven Trading's score of 62/100 is similar to prop firms like E8 Markets and Funded Elite. While Maven offers low-cost entry fees and flexibility between five types of evaluation challenges, the wider forex spreads and lack of transparency around pricing make it a costly choice if you're a daily or active trader.

Budget-conscious traders looking for diverse challenge types with low entry fees, flexible account options, and no minimum trading days

Not Ideal For

Scalpers, high-frequency traders, or those requiring tight spreads, transparent pricing, and hands-on customer support

Our Take on Maven Trading

With an overall score of 62/100, Maven Trading scored moderately because of wider spreads and poor transparency around pricing. Although the prop firm offers multiple challenges with low fees and instant funding accounts, Maven Trading has restrictive payouts and unhelpful customer support.

While the range of five challenge types allows for flexibility compared to other firms, significantly wider forex spreads and limited transparency may make it less ideal for active and high-frequency traders.

1 One-Step Challenge

The One-Step challenge is great if you have solid trading experience and the confidence to nail it in a single, straightforward evaluation phase. This challenge requires you to hit an 8% profit target with a 5% trailing drawdown.

The trailing drawdown adjusts based on your highest equity, meaning as your account grows, the drawdown limit follows. The daily drawdown is limited to 3% which makes your risk management more stringent, but you have unlimited time to meet your target.

2 Two-Step Challenge

In this challenge, you'll be completing two phases: Phase One with an 8% profit target, and Phase Two with a 5% profit target. The Two-Step challenge has an 8% static drawdown with an unlimited timeframe, so you get a stable risk threshold.

It has a bit more flexibility than the One-Step Challenge because the daily drawdown is capped at 4%. The Two-Step challenge is best suited if you're a novice trader, or if you prefer a slow-paced approach to your evaluation.

3 Three-Step Challenge

The Three-Step challenge is the most gradual of all the challenges. You'll need to complete three phases, each with a 3% profit target. There's a 2% daily drawdown loss, but there's no timeframe, and the fees are low which allows for stress-free trading.

This challenge is great if you don't mind the slow pace for less gains since all three phases have a 3% profit target. With its smaller profit targets and tighter daily loss limits, the Three-Step offers the smoothest entry into prop trading if you're an absolute beginner.

4 Instant Funding

The Instant Funding challenge allows you to skip the multi-step challenge phase and immediately begin with a funded account. The catch is that you take on a trailing 3% total drawdown and a daily loss limit of 2% applied at the start of each day.

Before you can request a payout, the minimum withdrawal threshold is set at 3% profit of the account. This is only recommended if you are looking for immediate payouts without the hassle of challenges.

5 Mini Challenge

The Mini Challenge is a fast-paced, low initial commitment option specifically designed if you want something more flexible with barely any waiting period. It's a short-duration challenge with a daily 2% drawdown limit, in which you have to achieve a minimum 3% profit to request your payout, but you can only hold one open trade at a time.

This challenge isn't suitable if you're looking for multiple funding rounds. Once you place your first trade, you have to submit your request within a 24-hour trading window.

Scaling for Funded Accounts

Maven Trading offers an attractive scaling plan if you prove consistent performance. Once you achieve a 10% profit over four months (2.5% per month) and process at least one payout per month, you're eligible for a 25% increase in your funded account size.

This process can be repeated until the account size reaches $1,000,000. The scaling function encourages progressive growth and makes sure that you get rewards for consistently hitting targets. The maximum withdrawal cap also increases alongside the scaling plan, enabling you to access larger profits as you scale your account.

Maven Trading Challenge Rules

Maven Trading has strict rules regarding trading styles and frequency:

News Trading Restricted

Trading before high impact news, or Red Folder News, are not counted. You cannot open or close your trades within a two-minute window before a news event release. Maven Trading uses ForexFactory to evaluate high impact news.

Copy Trading Prohibited

Copy trading using another trader's system or copying trades is strictly prohibited. Maven Trading has measures to detect if you're using someone else's system, which may result in account termination.

Cheating Prohibited

Any form of high-frequency trading (HFT), toxic trading order flow, long/short arbitrage, reverse arbitrage, group hedging, and gamification are strictly prohibited.

Expert Advisors (EAs) Restricted

Expert Advisors are not allowed and may get your account suspended. If you want to use EAs, you'll need to contact their support team and wait for approval.

IP Address Changes Flagged

Maven Trading specifically states that if they detect your IP address has changed, they'll request proof and explanation of the occurrence.

Gambling Prohibited

Maven Trading may mark your trading as gambling if more than 50% of your trades are held under one minute. Additionally, betting one direction and holding until you pass the challenge will get you banned or suspended.

Martingale Strategy — Now Allowed

As of January 2026, Maven Trading removed the Martingale rule. Traders can now hold up to five open positions in drawdown on the same pair simultaneously, giving more flexibility for scaling into trades or managing multiple entries.

Verdict on Challenge Accounts

We gave Maven Trading a 7/10 for their diverse and balanced selection of challenges. Compared to many other prop firms which offer limited options, Maven Trading has the Three-Step challenges for beginners, the One-Step and Instant for experts, or the Two-Step for those who are looking to test trading strategies. While the rules could definitely use a rework for clarity, it's good that the challenges have low fees and scaling for consistent performance.

Commission Fees & Pricing

Maven Trading's spreads are significantly wider compared to prop firms like DNA Funded, Blueberry Funded, and IC Funded. The spreads are generally one to two pips higher than the industry average, and it may be very expensive if you're a high-frequency strategy and scalping trader.

According to our testing, Maven Trading doesn't disclose if the pricing structure comes from their in-house team, simulated environments, or other sources. The lack of transparency in Maven Trading's spread structure can hinder your precise execution strategies, and you'll be forced to focus on larger price movements just to even out the transaction costs.

While commission fees are $2 USD per side and 0% for cryptocurrencies, indices, and commodities, the high spreads and unclear pricing make Maven Trading a bad choice if you're an active trader going for dozens of trades per day.

Forex Spreads — Maven vs Blueberry Funded

Maven Trading's spreads are wider than those of many competing prop firms. During testing, we compared Maven's spreads with Blueberry Funded in real-time. The difference was significant, with Blueberry often offering spreads that were nearly half those of Maven.

Maven Trading SpreadBlueberry Funded Spread
AUD/CAD 14 pipsEUR/USD 0.2 pips
AUD/JPY 9 pipsAUD/USD 0.1 pips
CHF/JPY 15 pipsGBP/USD 0.2 pips
EUR/AUD 15 pipsUSD/CAD 1.2 pips
EUR/GBP 7 pipsUSD/JPY 0.6 pips

In addition to the wider spreads, Maven doesn't provide much transparency around how spreads are determined or if they fluctuate based on market trading conditions. This makes it harder to estimate costs accurately, especially in fast-moving markets.

Commission Fees

Maven Trading applies a $2 USD commission fee per side ($4 USD round trip) on forex trades, but the commission fee for indices, commodities, and digital ETFs and cryptocurrencies is 0%.

Asset ClassCommission (per side)Total Round Trip
Forex$2$4
Indices$0$0
Commodities$0$0
Digital ETFs / Crypto$0$0

While the commission fee is standard, it doesn't offset the higher costs of trading due to Maven's wider spreads. For non-USD pairs, commissions are automatically converted to USD.

Swap Fees

A positive aspect of Maven Trading's pricing is that there are no swap fees for holding positions overnight, which is great if you're a swing trader or just holding for extended periods of time. However, considering the wider spreads, the savings from zero swap fees may not be enough to offset the overall higher cost of trading.

Verdict on Spreads, Commissions and Pricing

We gave Maven Trading a 2/10 score for spreads, commissions, and pricing. The high forex spreads are a major concern, and it's arguably one of the widest spreads among the many prop firms that we've reviewed so far. This makes it a very poor choice if you're an experienced trader. While the no-swap fees and no commissions on certain markets are nice features, Maven's wider spreads is a deal breaker that renders trading more expensive than it needs to be.

The crypto spread on Maven Trading tends to be very wide even during calm market conditions, so please consider your positions carefully.

Verdict on Markets and Leverage

After testing, we scored Maven Trading 7/10 for markets and leverage because you get access to a good range of 76 instruments, which covers the main asset classes most prop traders look for. The 75:1 leverage on forex is solid if you like trading majors or exploring exotic pairs, while the 20:1 leverage on indices and commodities keeps things steady for swing and position traders. Crypto sits at a low 2:1, which limits flexibility, but the selection is still enough for basic exposure.

Trading Platforms

Maven Trading supports three platforms: Match-Trader, cTrader, and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) which they re-introduced as of January 2026. All three platforms offer different sets of tools for various trading needs, but they also have their limitations.

MetaTrader 5 (MT5)

One of the most prolific trading platforms in the world, MetaTrader 5 is back on Maven Trading. MT5 has all the bells and whistles that help you analyse, chart, expand, and trade with real-time data. What's great is that Maven Trading has an official, MetaQuotes-issued license that offers extra security and more control in trading.

Charting & Real-Time DataExpanded Order TypesDirect Platform AccessMetaQuotes Licensed

However, MT5 has a steep learning curve that requires extensive knowledge of the UI and advanced tools.

Match-Trader

Match-Trader is a web-based and mobile platform — there is no dedicated desktop application. While it offers basic trading tools, its biggest problem is that you can't save chart templates across devices. The lack of customisation can be a huge drawback if you rely on different charts to tweak your setups.

However, Match-Trader integrates with TradingView, providing more advanced charting tools. Additionally, the platform features real-time news feeds with an economic calendar.

No desktop application available — web and mobile only.

cTrader

cTrader is a highly customisable platform that offers more advanced charting compared to Match-Trader, with access to over 70 indicators and tools for detailed technical analysis. It also supports cTrader Automate, allowing you to develop automated strategies using C#.

Unlike Match-Trader, cTrader has both desktop and web versions, providing more flexibility. However, it lacks the integrated TradingView features which may be a concern if you rely heavily on TradingView for charting.

70+ IndicatorsDesktop, Web & MobilecTrader Automate (C#)Custom Charting

Recommended Platform

We recommend cTrader if you choose to sign up to Maven Trading, as it offers more flexibility and advanced features for a more technical trading approach.

Verdict on Trading Platforms

All the platforms provide strong tools, but Match-Trader's web-only format and limited customisation are significant drawbacks, especially if you rely on a direct-to-app interface with a more reliable UI. We're giving Maven Trading a 7/10 for the platform selection, with cTrader being the standout choice for flexibility and advanced features.

Payments & Profit Payout

Maven Trading allows you to pay challenge fees via cryptocurrency, credit card, and direct bank transfer, although the transparency around fees for these methods is lacking. Profit withdrawals are processed every 10 business days, but a strict $10,000 withdrawal cap per two cycles and limitations on larger trades can restrict flexibility.

Payment Methods for Challenge Fees

With Maven Trading, you can choose to pay for your challenge fees either by direct bank transfer, cryptocurrency, or credit card. The availability of bank transfers entirely depends on your country.

While having options for cryptocurrency and bank transfer is a plus, the prop firm doesn't provide much clarity on the processing fee structures, conversion rates, or third-party charges for these payment methods, which can be a point of concern for transparency.

Payout Policy and Profit Withdrawals

The payout policy at Maven Trading follows a structured schedule, with profit withdrawals processed every 10 business days. While Maven promises a full refund on the third withdrawal, there's a $10,000 withdrawal cap per two payout cycles. This means you cannot withdraw more than $10,000 during this period, even if you've earned more.

If you're managing multiple accounts, Maven Trading treats all accounts as one, which limits flexibility. This cap does scale as accounts grow, but the prop firm doesn't offer much detail on how scaling impacts payouts in the long run.

Important Restriction

If your profits exceed $5,000, you must ensure that no single trade or trading day exceeds 50% of your total profit. This restriction can limit how you manage larger accounts and may discourage taking larger positions.

Verdict on Payments and Profit Payouts

Maven Trading's payout policy is restrictive compared to top prop firms, especially with the $10,000 withdrawal limit and the cap on larger trades or trading days. This adds more things to be aware of than to lighten the load of your trading experience. Additionally, the poor transparency around payment fees, especially for digital currencies, doesn't promise clear expectations in planning your payments. A 6/10 score reflects the lack of flexibility and transparency.

Customer Service & Education

Maven Trading's customer service includes live chat, but it lacks effectiveness. The chat offers limited assistance, and there are no direct contact methods like email or phone. Educational resources are also basic, with a simple FAQ and blog that don't provide detailed trading strategies.

Customer Support

Maven Trading offers live chat support, but it's not as helpful as one might hope. Although the chat feature is available, it doesn't provide the level of assistance expected for important queries.

For instance, when we asked for details on their trading platforms, the support team directed us to Google for information on cTrader, rather than offering direct guidance. This lack of meaningful support, combined with no other direct contact options like email or phone, raises serious concerns about their ability to effectively help traders.

Additionally, we tested their customer support messaging speed by asking a question on the official website regarding cryptocurrency, but didn't receive a response at all. Granted, the message was sent as a user without an account, but even so you'd expect a brief reply.

Live Chat

Available but unhelpful — directed us to Google for platform info

No Email or Phone Support

No direct contact methods available

Educational Resources

Maven Trading offers a very basic FAQ section and blog with limited resources. The FAQ is scattered, doesn't cover in-depth topics, and the blog offers general articles about trading concepts.

Given that Maven Trading has complex rules and instructions, they could have done so much more instead of ignoring this lack of resources. Not only does the FAQ page lack specific guidance, but once you click a specific question, the previous one closes, which can be a hindrance if you're looking for advanced educational material.

Verdict on Customer Service and Education

Maven Trading's customer support and educational resources are underwhelming. The live chat is unhelpful, and the lack of comprehensive educational materials makes it difficult to find decent in-depth support. This limited service is a significant downside for those who are looking for a more engaged and informative prop trading company.

Trust & Community

At first glance Maven Trading has a substantial online presence, with a strong TrustPilot rating and an active community. However, questions remain about their transparency, particularly around trading conditions and liquidity providers.

Maven TrustPilot Reviews

4.5/5

TrustScore

Based on ~5,000 reviews on Trustpilot — which might seem surprisingly high given the limited transparency the company provides.

Unlike firms such as Blueberry Funded that openly connect with regulated brokers, Maven doesn't disclose its liquidity providers or brokerage sources. This lack of clarity raises questions about the authenticity of some reviews, especially when compared to other more transparent firms in the industry.

Trading Community

Maven has an active prop trading community, with more than 77,000 members on Discord, yet only 110+ are listed as funded traders. They maintain a presence across social media platforms.

Most importantly, Maven Trading may sometimes neglect updating their website regarding rules, challenges, and announcements. So be sure to follow their Discord if you want to be up to date on the latest changes.

Verdict on Trust and Community

Maven Trading's large community and high TrustPilot rating don't fully align with the level of transparency expected from a prop firm. When it comes to essential details like liquidity providers and operational clarity, you may prefer firms that are more open with critical information like that. Such an oversight, along with poor customer support, leaves us giving Maven Trading a 4/10 score for the Trust and Community evaluation.

Customer support is minimal, with only basic live chat assistance and no direct contact methods, which doesn't make it a favourable firm if you're a beginner trader in need of all the help you can get. The platform's restricted payout policies, like the $10,000 cap per cycle, can further limit potential earnings. Educational resources are also lacking, offering only a basic FAQ and blog with little to support skill development.

While Maven has an active community and high TrustPilot rating, the lack of transparency around key elements like spreads, liquidity providers, and payment fees raises concerns for those looking for an open and fully supportive trading environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Maven Trading is a good prop trading platform with cheap challenge fees, but it scores lower than most prop trading competitors due to high forex spreads and a lack of transparency around liquidity and spreads. While the firm offers multiple evaluation options with low fees, the restrictive payout policies and unhelpful customer support team lowers its value as a prop trading company. If you're an average prop trader who wants to test out your prop trading risk management strategies, Maven Trading is a good firm for you.
Yes, Maven Trading is a legitimate proprietary trading firm that has been in business since 2022 with headquarters in Vancouver, Canada. The firm is known for offering fast payouts and access to trading platforms like MT5 and cTrader. However, there have also been reports of traders complaining that Maven has a tendency to change and revert trading rules out of the blue which doesn't help Maven's reputation to stand out as a legitimate prop firm.
The best prop trading firms for 2026 are DNA Funded and Funded Next. DNA Funded tops the list with low challenge fees, an 80% profit split, and a solid range of markets. Funded Next is a great choice for forex trading because it has flexible evaluations, 95% profit split, and clear trading rules.
Maven Trading's evaluation process offers multiple trading challenges: the One-Step, Two-Step, and Three-Step challenges, as well as the Mini and the Instant Funding method. The One-Step requires you to meet an 8% profit target with a 5% trailing drawdown, while the Two-Step has a static drawdown of 8% and requires you to hit 8% in phase one and 5% in phase two. The Three-Step lets you complete three phases with a 3% profit target for each phase and a 2% daily drawdown with no time frame which makes it a good choice for beginners.
The biggest disadvantages of Maven Trading are its significantly wide forex spreads which can severely increase your trading costs. While it offers low challenge fees, the firm isn't transparent around pricing and payout structures, and the customer support is not up to standards. These factors make Maven Trading a bad choice if you're looking for scalping and high-frequency trading with tight spreads and fast execution.
Maven Trading can be a good prop trading firm for beginners thanks to the cheap fees starting from $13 for the Mini challenge. If you don't like that challenge, there are four more types to choose from, and there are no minimum trading days, making it very flexible. However, if you're a beginner, keep in mind that the forex spreads are wider than most competitors, and they don't provide much educational resources or clarify their rules.
